The scholarship was awarded for the first time at the University Of Sydney and was based on academic credit. Twenty-five international students from all Bachelors and Masters degrees were selected for the scholarship of value 20,000 AUD.

A scholarship with a monetary value 1500 AUD was offered by the university for exchange students with a weighted average mark above 80%.
